Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday is GNC’s big sale day, the first Tuesday of every month. You can get supplements very cheap. Because I’m a personal trainer I can mail order them wholesale but when you figure in shipping, I think Super Tuesday is cheaper.

So what supplements am I taking?

I have kept it pretty simple so far, with nothing like androsteine or creatine. The reason is that these can promote dehydration, which would be disastrous for me. The power-endurance that you can gain with these is not a major issue, although I may wish I had used them when it comes to the sprinting. Still, to get ultra dehydrated during any one day, even a training day, could ruin the whole event.

I am taking a daily dose of Bill Phillips' EAS Myoplex (or its ST sale equivalent). I definitely feel this helps. Perhaps if I ate a perfect diet it wouldn’t matter as much. I don’t eat a perfect diet. Far, far, from it.

I was taking some glucosamine but stopped. I’m not sure how I feel about it because I’ve been injured a few times while taking it, although that is probably because I would take it when I was doing very dangerous tendon training. However, I have never felt like it helped too much and it didn’t seem to be helping my tendentious as much as proper training and rest so I’ve blown it off.

I’ve been taking L-Glutamine at night in powdered form. I think night is a good time for amino supplementation because you recover during sleep and your body also has a growth hormone spike at night. I also think that powdered aminos before bed help me sleep better when I am training hard.

I have been using a lot of Gatorade while training because it’s high in sodium. Most people don’t want extra sodium but during ultra events it is one of the most important factors because you sweat so much. I will also use Cytomax and just bought some Endurox, which is supposed to be the best, new enduro-supplement. I’ll let you know.

That’s about it, unless you count coffee. I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee.
