Aimee Roseborrough’s 2005 Birthday Challenge

Yeah!  I did it!  Well, most of it.  I didn’t finish the 3 beers or the 3 shots of vodka, but I had to be at work at 7AM!!!  Here’s some pics from the b-day challenge and the list of what I did for anyone who didn’t get it the first time.  If you only have time to check out one pic, look at the Danish one.  I ate 3 of those!  Yuck.  That was by far the hardest part of the whole thing.  Although I did have to red-point a 5.9 at climb #29.

I began at 4 PM on Saturday with the “chuck-its” for my dog.  She was pretty tired around #23, but busted out the rest for me- what a trooper!  I also began eating the cream cheese danishes, which are as big as my head.  I then left for the gym to do my weight-lifting, running, crunches, pull-ups and elevation gain.  The run was no problem, except for the danishes in my belly.  I also began weight-lifting with the goal of 3000 kg, but once I started, my husband cajoled me into doing 30,000 pounds-  I’m such a sucker.  I also managed to pump off my pull-ups with 3 sets of 10.  In between, I ate more Danish and then hopped on the treadmill to walk uphill as fast as I could.  I finished the elevation gain in about 47 min. and then we headed off to a party where I managed to hug 19 different people.
The next day we drove to Jack’s Canyon and I began my climbing.  Fortunately, it was a beautiful day, so there were plenty of people around to hug.  I even was able to get one of my hugs at the top of a route!  The first 25 routes went down without too much trouble, and then my forearm began cramping up.  I drank an Emergen-C given to me by a fellow climber.  That helped for a few more routes, and then came #29.  I got on a 5.9 and fell!  I had to redpoint it, which I barely managed to do next try.  Then #30 was a 5.8, which I did clean, but thought I was going to take a whipper at the top mantle move to the anchors!
Unfortunately, I still had one more Danish!  I attempted to talk my hubby out of not eating it, since they had gotten bigger from when he did his challenge a year and a half ago.  But he wouldn’t let that fly, so I hammered it down as fast as possible.  We arrived home and I was feeling pretty nauseous with 300 crunches, 30 jumping jacks, 3 x 30 kisses and 30 somersaults left to do.  I managed to the rest off, but the somersaults were the toughest.  I had to stop every 5 and put my head between my legs cause I was spinning so badly!  But, I finished my challenge with time to spare.

I have to thank my hubby for being my belay slave at Jack’s.  He belayed me for 5 hours, without climbing at all!!  I also want to thank my friends for their support and the climber who gave me the Emergen-C.  I do not want to thank Macy’s for making their danishes bigger!!!!
